MALABAR MAGIC
the coastline from Kanyakumari
to Cochin

This
routing follows the coast of Kerala from Trivandrum, along the cliffs of the
south coast and then
on through the lush of the backwaters with its paddies and endless coconut
groves to the
ancient coastal city of Cochin. This tour can also be done the other way
round, beginning
at Cochin and ending in Trivandrum.
Day 1. Arrival at Trivandrum
Arrival at Trivandrum Airport. You will be met and driven to your hotel at
Kovalam on the beach. Rest of the day at leisure.

2 & 3. at Trivandrum
Two days to relax, walk on the beach, laze at the pool, and a chance to try
some Ayurvedic massages and taste the freshly caught seafood.
Day 4. Trivandrum - Paravoor
After breakfast a short drive up the coast to the backwater resort of Aqua
serene, made up of traditional cottages and surrounded on all sides by
water. Afternoon trip down the backwaters by canoe. Overnight at Aqua
serene.

5. Paravoor - Alleppy (House Boat)
Leave after a late breakfast for the short drive to Alleppey where you will
board your houseboat (Kettuvallam) for your cruise down the backwaters. As
you sail in total tranquillity, the daily life of the local people will pass
you by; tending ducks, growing rice and cultivating coconuts. Overnight on
board.

Day 6. House Boat - Kumarakom
Disembark at the jetty of your next destination; the village of Kumarakom.
This small village is the home of a bird sanctuary and nestles on the shore
of Lake Vembanad. Relax, swim and enjoy the beautiful views and delicious
seafood. Overnight at the resort.

7. Kumarakom
Whole day to relax or join in the activities; cruises, canoeing or a sail
across the lake. Overnight at the resort.
Day 8. Kumarakom - Marari Beach
Take the launch across the lake to bring you to the Arabian Sea and your
beach resort. Accommodation will be in thatched cottages set amongst lush
gardens with a coconut grove which leads down to the unspoiled beach. Here
the accent is on total relaxation and rejuvenation.

9. Marari Beach
Two full days to relax with time to try an Ayurvedic massage, an ancient
science still widely practiced in Kerala.

Day at leisure
Day 11. Marari - Cochin
Morning transfer by car (1 hr) to Cochin and to your hotel. Afternoon free
to walk around Fort Cochin with its many heritage buildings and antique
shops. Optional short cruise around the islands in the evening to see the
sunset over the Chinese fishing nets.

12. in Cochin
Whole day in Cochin. Take a tour of the historical buildings at Fort Cochin
and a ferry across the waters. Suggest a visit to a Kathakali dance
performance in the early evening, a highlight of any visit to Kerala.
Day 13. Cochin - Airport
Departure to Cochin Airport for your final departure or onward destination.
Option :
Return to Cochin Airport for a flight to Agatti Island in the Lakshadweep
for a stay at Bangaram Island. The trip from Agatti airport to Bangaram is
by boat.

Bangaram Island
Of
the 36 islands, Bangaram is the gem. A tropical island surrounded by white
sand and a sea of aquamarine. Emphasis is on natural and simple. The resort
is made up of 30 simple huts with ceiling fans, fridges and showers (cold
water). The dining hut serves buffet meals and is a mixture of local and
continental dishes with of course lots of fresh fish and tropical fruits.
There is a beach bar open most of the day serving a wide range of drinks.
Diving, fishing and snorkelling are available here.
If you wish to visit Lakshadweep you will need written permission which we
can provide.
