Nepal
SEASONS
SEP - NOV Very pleasant weather, great views. Warm, sunny and dry
days. September may have some showers.
DEC - JAN Sunny days with cool evening and cold nights. December and
January can be very cold with snowfall at high altitudes. Sweaters and
Jackets are necessary for the evenings.
FEB - APR Bright sunny days, warm evenings. Great views.
MAY - JUNE Hot and dry but still pleasant weather
JULY - AUG Monsoon. Shjort heavy showers, humid and sunany. Best
time for quiet, hassle free and peaceful ciltural tours and wildlife
safaris. Lodge treks and rafting trips for the real adventurers are also
possible.
VISAS
A valid visa is necessary for your stay in Nepal. You can get it issued
from the Nepalese Diplomatic Mission in your country or upon arrival at one
of the following entry points to Nepal; Kathm,andu Airport, Kakarbhitta,
Birgunj, Belhiya, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Mahendra Nagar and
Kodari. Overland tourists entering Nepal with their vehicles must possess an
International Carnet.
TREKKING VISAS
Persons intending to trek must obtain trekking permits for the specific
area they are planning to visit. These are colour coded and require three
passport size photographs. Trekking permits are available at the Department
of Immigration in Kathmandu and, for limited periods, in Pokhara.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS - Same as India
CLOTHING
The same as India except for the additional clothing and accessories for
trekking and rafting trips. A list of necessities will be given to you at
the time of booking.
TEMPLE VISITS
The same rules apply in Nepal as in India. Additional are: Buddhist stupas
- circling the stupa always in a clock-wise direction. Pre-permission before
taking photographs, especially women, is recommended.
MONEY
All major credit cards are accepted in Nepal. For pocket money, we advise
Traveller's cheques in Euros, Pounds or US Dollars. These can be changed at
most large hotels, banks or money exchange counters into the local currency,
the Nepalese Rupee. Value is approx. US$ 1 = 76 Nepalese Rupees
